The bar is barely 2 years old but IMO has become a great distinguishing characteristic for Pixels already. Also not having a bump makes it an actual feature as phone doesn’t go all wibbly wobbly when kept down
I do like the bar. It’s a step in the right direction instead of just bumps or lenses sitting there.
It’s weird to me they don’t just make phones wedge shaped. Told the screen towards you when laying on the table. Let’s flat. Protects the lenses. Provides more space for whatever. Doesn’t drastically make the phone bigger. It’s a win I’m all cases as far as I’m concerned.
The OG Pixel was slightly wedge shaped for this exact reason. They gave up on the design in the Pixel 2.
Immediately much more thicker. Don’t see why they don’t build in nintendo-switch-style kickstands however
Pixel’s brand identity was two tone backs.
Google slowly shrunk it until it stopped existing in 2019 with the Pixel 4. No idea why. It was iconic, and no one else was doing it.
I don’t like it, but then again, I have the whole phone in a cover that makes it flush again, so it doesn’t actually matter to me.
“It be that way because the way it do”
Why can’t they make phones with flat backs anymore? Why the needless protrusion so it can no longer lay flat? Add in more battery if you have to.
This must be because making a sleek device increases how desirable it looks. That also explains designs like tapered edges.
I’m in full agreement with you and would prefer a completely flat phone with the extra space used for battery and cooling.Well, at least it’s flat(-ish) with a case. I’d still prefer it if it didn’t require a case though, like these slippery glass slabs do. I’d be perfectly happy if my pixel 7 pro felt out of the box, like it does with the official case. Imo the case actually makes the phone look and feel way better.
Without any care, that’s how. Why do you think the pixel 7 lens covers have been exploding
This is the first I’ve heard of this
Because it’s a non-issue that affects an insanely small portion of people, but people love to shit on Pixel.
There’s also no proof as to why it happens. People speculate it’s the cold weather + warm pocket that causes the metal to shrink/expand causing the cracking, but there’s zero proof. For all we know these people drop their phone 50 times per day, weakened the glass, and "oh no, it just exploded out of no where!!!
No one hates Pixels more than Pixel users
Dunno what phone has launched and hasn’t had some very minor yet very uncommon but more-common-than-normal defect
of course get fucked if it happens to you is a minor issue for any consumer
Google doesn’t repair it in warranty and says that it’s on you
It’s a very good design choice. I love how i can use my phone on the table without it rocking back and forth.
This. I didn’t really love the look of it at first (still not sure if I do), but I do love that it’s kinda function
overand form.
