The Indian media is filled with so much BJP/right wing propaganda right now. Especially on YouTube and Instagram. That stupid modi has brainwashed so many young Indians into his hateful ideology. Its hard to find a rational indian who thinks for themselves on social media.

You’ll find them going around harassing muslim content creators and even straight up just Pakistani ones. This leads them to have an illusion that we indians are obsessed with them when in reality, it’s just a loud minority.

However, I’m not seeing much of a push back against this from the leftist side. In fact, any time a leftist try to add some sense into these dumbasses minds, these bitches still don’t listen and twist their arguments. Take dhruv rathee for example. (I know he’s not a leftist but his video on kerala story was mostly accurate.)

In the US, there’s also a lot of bullshit happening. In fact, they’re also going through what india is going through as well - religious extremism. But Christianity in their case. Christians there are trying to ban abortion, ban lgbtq people, ban drag queens, ban science books etcetera. And just like the hindutva is demonizing Muslims, Christians are demonizing lgbtq people.

But there’s also a very strong leftist movement there who are there to oppose those things. But in india, the leftist movement is far weaker and silenced by stupid right wingers which is not good because it will further make it easier for people to fall for their propaganda. We indian leftists need to stand up and do something more to strengthen our movement. Because looking at the current situation of this country, it’s only going to get worse.

Same in every country it seems. The left are weaker than wet noodles and seem like they never understand the social aspect of politics. Might be why the left is the left.

They’re social outcasts who end up associating with any other social pariahs like minority groups or other subcultures who the status quo try to suppress.

The status quo end up leaning right to enforce the current paradigms. These people tend to be more ingrained into the pop culture and have greater social capital and intelligence.

I always thought it had more to do with how the center/left are concerned about policy content and how it will affect systems and society, making decision making more complex and creating fragmentation. The right trends to compete by creating target groups or issues and uniting votes behind attacking them.

I think it boils down to blue jeans and letter jackets

Not saying what you’re saying is wrong. What I am getting at is that its all about social groups.

The right are status quo, status quo is what is the dominate group. They’re blue jeaned Americans. They are hyper focused on in and out groups. All sub groups want to be the dominate one so the dominate group is very focused on making sure they can identify their group and keep others out. It costs a lot of energy to change what is status quo yet everybody tries.

The left represent all the sub cultures trying to fight to change the status quo. They reject the blue jeans and letter jackets and instead represent what could be status quo. Sub cultures are all the minority groups, LGQTB and even groups like the disabled or just plain old social outcasts.

Its why I believe a lot of celebrities turn right when they make it. They get allowed into the group and their views change. They now have to protect the social order by rejecting any challenges to the order like trans rights, allowing minority clothing, hair and cultures from being main stream or allowing pokemonTCG from becoming a national sport.

I think all of politics makes more sense when viewed from a pop culture lens where sub groups fight to become dominate and the dominate culture struggles to maintain it’s position in a fast changing modern world.

The left believes in the rule of law and playing fair while the right is will organized and lies and cheats to win then changes the rules in their favour.

        That’s not a good thing.

Lying and cheating is the social game. The left is losing people and power everyday. So at the end of the day maybe acting superior is going to be the death of the party.

I’m stuck rolling around the idea like a booger. What good is being good if it means the other people who cheat and lie and steal gain every advantage and succeed. I think Having moral and ethics only works when both parties are willing to meet on them. When it becomes clear that isn’t happening maybe its time to play the game back.

The supreme court + abortion rights is a good example of taking the high road right to the grave
