German Chancellor Olaf Scholz vowed to toughen knife laws and step up deportations of rejected asylum-seekers Monday as he visited the scene of the knife attack in which a suspected Islamic extremist from Syria is accused of killing three people.
Knife laws?
Interior Minister Nancy Faeser earlier this month proposed allowing only knives with a blade measuring up to 6 centimeters (nearly 2.4 inches) to be carried in public, rather than the length of 12 centimeters (4.7 inches) that is allowed now.
This would ban bringing a kitchen knife to a picnic, but would it have done anything to prevent this attack? Maybe the guy was carrying his knife around openly before he started stabbing people (which would be crazy) but I suspect that he wasn’t.
Depends on the definition of carry. Does it mean to have in public at all or just having it concealed and on your person. Like bringing a bread knife to a picnic in a case for the knife should be legally distinct from having a knife in your pocket or belt.
Don’t be dumb. The only way to stop a bad guy with a knife is through a good guy with a knife
never gets old.
