Honestly not surprised. It’s a super shitty thing to do regardless.
My heart aches for this woman. She tried to speak out against gun violence and these assholes twisted her story for their own sick ends is beyond reprehensible. I don’t understand how shit like this is legal. It’s a double punch against justice in that it’s not only a blatant lie but it serves to suppress others from speaking out.
Kimberly Burrell took part in an MSNBC group interview about gun violence after losing her son. She was shocked to see her comments about inflation appear in a Donald Trump ad attacking Kamala Harris. … The gathering took place around the anniversary of the death of her 18-year-old son Darryl Pray Jr. in 2009, and Burrell was a bundle of raw emotion.
“I was a mess,” said the 53-year-old paralegal who moved to Delaware about two years ago. “I couldn’t stop crying.”
The reporter pivoted with a few questions about the election for what would later become another segment. And though Burrell and others said they didn’t want to talk much about politics, Burrell shared some general thoughts on the challenges of inflation as a single working mother.
Fuck MSNBC.

If Burrell believes the use of her image and comments misrepresented her views,
Checkmark.
she could mount a challenge in court asking that the ads be halted.
Ding, ding, ding!
Doing so, however, would be an expensive proposition.
So she needs help. There must be some Dem PAC somewhere who can help her with this. Hmm.
She’s also contacted a lawyer and is crafting a cease and desist letter.
Excellent! At least get the ball rolling on this.
