edit: since many seem to be confused: he doesn’t use the Apple logo anywhere on his website (you can check above) or in his videos — Apple is upset because the iPhones shown in his videos have the Apple logo on the back of the device which can be seen in the video while he’s repairing it.

In the letter from Apple’s law firm, they have specifically asked him to stop repairing Apple devices.

This is about licensing the use of the apple logo, which makes it really bizarre, there’s no way using a logo of a product you repair for a repair service isn’t fair use, right?

There’s a case to be made that it suggests some kind of affiliation with the company. A consumer may think he’s an officially licensed repairman.

It’d be a stronger case if it was just the logo of the product, not the logo of the company.

Yeah there’s plenty of reasons to hate Apple’s anti-consumer repair/third party repair policies. We don’t need to be inventing fake ones too.

They sent him a letter telling him to stop using the Apple logo in his videos and to stop trying to pass his videos off as official repairs. Big whoop.

He’s not passing them off as official repairs (although he does use genuine parts whenever those parts are still in circulation).

Are you saying repair videos should blur the parts of the device’s enclosure where the logo appears? This seems excessive
