“prevent data leakage and ensure that 100% of your data is processed by Google”

      I’d definitely not use this

True, but I feel like the market for Google’s VPN is people who would NOT otherwise bother to use a VPN at all. They’ll only bother to use this because it’s free and pushed right into their face.

This isn’t a service for someone who has the knowhow to get their own VPN. It’s so grandmas don’t get their bank accounts hacked while on hotel wifi.

Devils advocate: if you don’t use a 3rd party VPN already, this provides some additional safety when using random WiFi.

Not the best solution for you, but “OK” for 95% of users.

Vastly reduces MITM attacks, and makes your traffic mostly invisible to the internet provider, be it a public WiFi, or a private network at a friend’s house.

    Neveeer buying a pixel again.

It was a good phone before google decided to become a digital rights management overlord. Every other action on my phone now has some stupid tracking popup to sign in to something, save something, translate something. GTFOff my screen holy shit.

My phone’s hardware is still all good but I’ve been forced to look for a new one. Fuck you google

That sounds like the apps you use, my Pixel asks for authorisation for each app to access something the first time and that’s it. Never been asked to translate anything or had tracking pop-ups except on websites.

A lot of it is chrome. And yeah, it’s definitely asking me to login to my account from icognito because of a “toolbar”. Yall are silly.

If a lot of it is chrome you might’ve identified the issue that’s actually plaguing you already.

Why not switch to Firefox+ublock… and… you complain about sign in requests when using incognito? Yeah, well, that won’t be different anywhere.

You sound more troll than 30 toolbars in IE4.

Half the features on the phone integrate with Chrome, why guy a google phone to uninstall everything google about it? The goal was specifically to have it all in one place, accounts/NFC/ SSO. I’ll buy a phone where I don’t have to reinstall all the software, makes much more sense.

Which things integrate with Chrome? Name them.

Y’all are picking at every word. It’s also gmail links.

The wallet. The lens The hotspot The nearby share Asking me to save every password/login/id to the accounts on the phone. Messing up which account on the phone does what.

And yes, as you all have so brilliantly pointed out I can use another OS, and another browser, and another share app/drive.

It almost sounds like I should just ditch the phone with that brand if I’m going to go through all this trouble avoiding it natively

What are you going to replace it with then? Avoiding vendor lock-in on an iPhone isn’t nearly as easy, and every Android smartphone is the same regarding the behavior of Google services.

At least you have the option of avoiding Google.

Firefox supports syncing account login info between mobile and desktop. The desktop version can also import passwords you’ve saved in Chrome, and they’ll sync to the mobile version.

Is that what you mean by “accounts” and “SSO”?

So it’s probably goonna be 799€ here in Europe.

It really depends on the pre order bonus and I’d actually consider it over the 7a or Zenfone 10

Love my 4a. Only thing I hate about it is the battery life and that it wo to receive any updates anymore

Still using a 4a too but occasional powerbutton bugs are making me considering an upgrade. Free Google photos are making me keep the 4a… still not sure between 7a and 8…
