So the iPhones can’t have buttons but the cases can? That’s just buttons with extra steps.

I just checked and it works as a shutter button for me. Seems like it works as a shutter button only if you have it set to open the camera - if you don’t, whatever action it’s set to seems to take priority

Can’t you press volume up to act as a shutter button? That was a feature as old as thr iPhone 4, maybe older.

I’ve stopped caring about Apple so much, that I forgot to look forward to September. This year flew by.

It really did… my six year old iPhone XS Max is still perfect, so I never even think about changing anything.

I guess this is the year I upgrade. I do love the idea of 120hz and a terabyte…

I remember a flying saucer game that had an “abduct” button. This sounds similar. Or maybe it means regulatory capture.

Sony has entered the chat. - the shutter button is one of the best features of the Xperia line, for sure. I used it extensively when it was my go-to phone.

I am not sure why the case is a big deal because clearly the actual button is still on the phone itself. It looks like a “touch strip”

After giving it 5 solid minuts of thought.

As a lefty this could potential cause major annoyances.

But imagining the functionality which appears to be made for horizontal camera work it would allow easy zooming in and out with only using one hand which could be useful and is good for accessibility

Could be related/experimental towards to ai vision features where its normalized to record your surroundings while you do stuff to get vocal feedback. I can imagine how zoom plays an important role into the context window the ai is provided with.
