more adventures on rednote mostly because it’s entertaining how mad people get when i talk about it :3 /halfjoke

this was posted 12/31 btw so i don’t think “the mods haven’t gotten to it yet” is a real thing

#le is common in parallel to the anglosphere’s #wlw which i think is adorable

my number one qualm with little red book so far is there is no native translation like tiktok has. lots of google translate is necessary to get the social media to social :P

necessary disclaimer: fuck the CCP and all the real violence and repression they do. just want to give credit given where due, and so far here im just seeing a lot of assumptions with no evidence? so im gonna post what my experience is :) i welcome all to do the same

As an aside if your claims that “defending inherently inequitable and oppressive systems such as capitalism, fascism, genocide, and imperialism are forbidden in this community.” doesn’t seem to appear in the guidelines for what is not approved in that instance. If this is your actual policy you should include that information in your sidebar.

That was my bad, and I’m sorry. I thought we were speaking in a completely different community. If I had realized this was the now-defunct 196, I would have stopped talking a long time ago. My bad.

No, I’m talking about the community I moderate on blahaj. It’s explicitly for sharing from a leftist or post-leftist perspective, but the rules have to be strict because otherwise it gets overrun by people wanting to go off-topic.

In addition to this, this particular 196 community is now retired, making matters more confusing. I took a months-long break from Lemmy, and that’s why I forgot to check the community name in my notifs.

Genuinely, in spite of our disagreements, I apologize. I never would have come on so strong if I didn’t think this was Liberty Hub.

            Gotcha, that would make sense.

I too took a break until recently.

I still think you need to take a minute to look into how much freer many nations are on a fundamental level than China. That’s not propaganda it’s factual. Not every nation or government values freedom equally.

And many nations do all of those things better than China while retaining greater individual freedoms. We don’t have to become authoritarians to achieve this goal.

We’re already living in a single-party state that enslaves and murders POC and indigenous people with impunity, and which bars anyone remotely leftist from residency and citizenship to maintain the status quo. Not sure how that’s better, but go off

I don’t know what country you live in but we clearly do not reside in the same nation or state of mind if you believe what you claim.

Regardless Im not here to defend America. China being substantially less free by every metric than many other nations is an easily verified fact.

Ypu don’t have to be authoritarian to meet people’s basic needs. China chooses authoritarianism because it benefits their investor class nit because it benefits the working class.

I don’t understand why anyone claiming to support liberty or freedom would back China. That’s like joining the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s dept because you want to fight back against gangs.
