to me it looks like an excuse to compromise, to accept injustice or being bullied, be it at work or in a relationship. This is a sentence a manager would use to convince you into accepting no raises, job conditions you don’t like or favoritism. Or any authoritarian so you don’t question him (or her).

You simply don’t know if a new city, job or partner is going to suck or not, if it’s going to be better or worse than your current situation.

Am I getting it wrong?
