I just noticed yesterday. I was searching for a community, found it and read through a specific post and the comments.
I then noticed that I searched with lemmy.world, no biggie I thought, I switched over to my instance feddit.de and searched for the community, found the same post and didn’t see any of the comments or anything like that.
I don’t know much about the fediverse but I thought I could access everything from every instance and it didn’t matter where I had my account. I’m using the app liftoff for Lemmy.
Check your Languages in your Lemmy settings.
Browse to https://yourLemmyServer/settings and check that under Languages you have all the languages you want to see as well as Undetermined. You may need the Ctrl+Click if using a desktop browser.
Save, then check the post again.
if no one on your home instance was subscribed to the community, it wont get posts or comments. the first time someone on an instance searches the community it seems to just get a few of the old posts but it doesnt get their comments; if you or someone else on your instance subscribes then the instance will get new posts and new comments
Thanks for the answer, I guess I was the second subscriber on my instance so it is reasonable with that explanation that there are no comments.
Now I understand this whole fediverse thing better I think
