What is all this militaristic “we will protect you” bullshit going on around the world? What’s the thought? “We will achieve safety, security, and peace once each and every one of you is slaughtered”. smh.
Militarism is a key part of fascism. It protects the powerful, is used to justify further militarism or restriction of civil liberties, threatens dissenters, and may be used to suppress dissenters
That is part of it for sure. Another ism for you though, Capitalism is a huge part of militarism and has less to do with fascism than one would think. More about protecting an empire you are building than being a monster to “the people”. I’m sure it’s a mix of all that and more, especially human nature. It’s a Gordian knot we cannot untangle, hence the “sword”.
