Netanyahu was gifted an opportunity to boost his global standing by handling an attack on his country with dignity, grace, and precision.

He’s somehow fumbled this so badly that he’s managed to turn most of the world against Israel despite them not firing the first shot in this particular war, He’s exposed the atrocities Israel has committed to an entire generation of people who may have never known about them otherwise, and his response goes so far beyond the scope of defense that they’re well into the realm of genocide.

    What a fucking idiot.

So they were engaged in active combat at the same pace they’re going now before Oct 7th?

Why wasn’t it all over the news then?

The pace has obviously increased, but IDF has been shooting civilians and journalists in Gaza and the west bank and hamas has been flinging rockets at Israel for years now.

Blockades and sieges are acts of war.

Gaza had been under a blockade for 17 years.

Depending on how you count it, you could say there’s been some sort of fighting and violence going on for decades. Even though, you can distinguish several periods of intensified war (such as the numerous intifadas), it’s difficult to call the in-between parts “peace”.

      Basically this.

I know several people who were… uneasy with the destitution and humanitarian issues they saw in Gaza, but supported Israel overall because before Oct7 the news was only “Hamas fires 16 rockets against Haifa” and Israel wasn’t going wild carpet bombing

That ambiguous support is gone now that Likud & the coalition have gone full mask off. They’re not pushing BDS, but their view has fundamentally shifted on this conflict over a matter of days and weeks

Nah I think he meant to say ‘total victory’ as in:

Do you believe with the Führer and us in the final total victory of the German people?

Apparently he’s referencing Goebbels’s Sportpalast speech.

The moron overplayed his hand. He promised he would fight to the death, so who would make a deal with someone who is that genocidal?

He’s a far-right Zionist psychopath. A religious nut job doing an ethnic cleansing, and western leaders support this form of racial apartied and violence. In some cases they’re even funding it.

Much like the war in Ukraine I fear this won’t end until the head of the snake lies beside the chopping block. :/
