Well on firefox/chrome extensions you can search for text expander and choose an extension that works for you.

Or if you are using a phone you can do the same on the app store and I think there should be a few options.

Once you download one of them it should give instructions on how to use it, but in general it asks you to create a phrase that you want to be automatically triggered and a shorter phrase that automatically replaced with the longer phrase.

For example-

long phrase: The quick brown fox jumped over the moon.

short phrase: /qfox

and every time you typed /qfox it would replace it with “The quick brown fox jumped over the moon.”

Yeah the more people the better so its easier to have a class action lawsuit.

Also for me I’m using a text expander so that after I type a shortcut it automatically adds the rest of the text for me.

I was able to solve the problem. Instead of downloading it from the Software Manager I installed it from the terminal instead.

When I installed it from the software manager it didn’t download one of the packages (org.gnome.platform/44) but when I did it from the terminal it did.

Thx though.

When is the government going to realize that capitalism is becoming a security risk for them.

The amount of companies that they need to rely on to keep their edge on the world stage is staggering. And all that needs to happen is a few of those companies that don’t have developed alternatives making individual decisions to do things cheaper or for more profit will eventually lead to problems like this in critical infrastructure that other countries can take advantage of.

I think it is more important to have a non-commercial tag/license added.

I mostly mention that to fend off the people that use the main basis of their argument as the effectiveness because that’s not why I’m doing it.

I do think it could work legally if the courts want to remain consistent, but that isn’t guaranteed.

They have more incentive under the subscription model to create a better experience for the user.

Honestly though the best case scenario of how this all ends doesn’t really look great to me.

Either Russia loses the war, the government destabilizes, a power vacuum is formed which causes a power shift in a way likely to lead to more aggressive action in the future.

Or Russia wins the war, eyes other countries after it settles into Ukraine, NATO/US need to respond or else it sends the wrong message to other countries allied with them, and we head for WW3

Edit: There is also the idea of a stalemate and this just becomes a continuous war that doesn’t really end, but honestly I can’t see that being stable long term.

I’d probably use it to terraform certain urban and suburban places to be more hospitable to wildlife and humans living together. Like guerilla gardening and banksy mixed together.

Funnily enough the person that made this video had a little controversy on the vape-o-nomics video when he was talking about how subscription services were bad but then immediately pivoted towards an ad read for a subscription service.

Eventually it was removed (without a comment talking about, it happened silently) but still this stuff reaches everyone eventually.

How does it make the decision to recommend one post over another using the data it collects? Also does it treat all that data differently when ranking posts?

Any picture/video/text that is tries to present facts or events without sources should be dismissed (unless they are facts or events that you have previously verified for yourself). At least with a source you can reason about motives, resources, etc. to get a better picture of what is being pushed and why.

So the company was aware but I was wondering on whether it was public knowledge released today or it was released back then but no one paid attention.

Also the report says that they don’t believe it is a nation state actor because it doesn’t match with any known malicious clusters but it’s likely that countries have multiple unknown clusters they can test with if necessary.

I was more thinking about all the services that rely on internet access to function. Like most economic systems would basically crash or grind to a halt.

There are a lot of products that don’t really need to be connected to the internet to do their job but are being connected anyways and would get bricked if access to the internet didn’t work. For example internet connected security cameras that don’t have cables connecting to where the data is being stored would be shot as well.

I mean the extent of the damage is really dependent on how the malware was spread which we don’t know yet so still mostly speculation on how damaging it could be.

So the attack happened in October 2023 but it was only revealed to the public now? Or is it that it was public back then but people didn’t pay attention?

Also the part where they say it has only ever happened as a precursor to a military invasion sort makes me think that this attack was some nation state practicing or signalling what they would do if they were in active cyber warfare which would be bad for the world if people in the competing nations didn’t have internet access, even if it was only for a day or two.
