I pretty much agree, I find being able to flip between communities more useful than just having a feed of the same like-minded people, you explained it really well thanks.
I have moved to Mbin: @SamXavia@kbin.run

No problem, hope you enjoy.
You mean like !peertube@lemmy.ml ?
Nap time?
Amazing to see, as I look further into these platforms such as Lemmy and Mastodon I love them more and more as they seem to be so much more freeing than current mainstream platforms on the market.
Better than “great idea” and Elon Musk tbh
Then the platform will probably not get far as most people aren’t looking for ‘alternative’ platforms instead want to use what is popular, If a main stream company uses the systems then it means the mass of people will be able to access it and therefor hopefully make people more aware that you don’t have to use the ones from META and any other company that want to get into but if the company truly has the users intrests at heart you’d hope they’d make the platform fair and hopefully with less data collection.
I feel META getting into the Fediverse platform is a great idea, brings it to the masses more easily. We just need to make sure META doesn’t take control of it as everyone should be able to use the platform they wish to use.
I would say it depends on what your community is about, If it’s a topic that could get a good amount of users flow to it you’d probably have a lot of work on your hands and might need to add another mod or something but if it’s that unique maybe only a few people would use it, I wouldn’t bother with the mods and just run it yourself.
Kbin does allow downvotes from what I can see and downvotes doesn’t really bring it to a toxic environment as it’s just a way to easily disagree with someone without having to go into depth in the comments. It’s like YouTube videos, if you dislike it doesn’t mean it’s bad, it just means you personally don’t like it.
