There are invite-based systems since the dawn of the internet, notably torrent trackers and closed forums, and mods can see who vouched for them. It’s not worth it unless the community has something unique to offer (i.e. new blueray rips, non-public deals). Adding crypto to it doesn’t add anything of value.

From the side of Fediverse, there’s like no argument to accept Facebook but WE NEED TO GROW. And no, the influx of some millions of users won’t bring life or quality to Lemmy, it would replace it for what culture of communicating is in the Insta. And I don’t feel like many people there would vote to have this.
Once you accept it, your community is overtaken (and you need to serve another thousands of users as an admin). I don’t feel anyone would be open to include them.
Not much work around there and the market only decreases + most men came through obligatory service so they believe they know-how + employer DGAF if you are an ex-con or a neo-nazi + you earn in a month what you may not do in a year + shooting hardly armed brown people was pretty safe + and with mobilization there is a promise you’d be better treated, equipped and trained there if you sign contract with them. Reddit is my place to check on news about the ongoing war. For some reason it wasn’t banned in r*ssia and is availiable without vpns. Lots of exiles from other places joined subreddits there.
I don’t feel like this blogosphere would move into fediverse. Occasionally, reddit became the right place for this.
At that stage bots and spam accounts are unlikely tho. Maybe in a year it would be worth it. Especially if\when Tumblr or Threads get into that, but I doubt it.
