I do like how pretty much any thread here on the fediverse is small enough that I feel like I can make a comment and participate
some communities do feel quite active, but I think sports as well as some niche interests could use a boost in activity here

I’m not sure if all of your points are covered, but this page has fediverse tips and an active mastodon account where you might be able to ask for the remaining scenarios to be covered
a million times this, so many young people overwork themselves and burn out quickly
I cringe whenever a see someone has checked in code at 1am on a weekend, and these people are also working normal business hours so it’s not like they are only working at night
sadly it’s usually the same people who never take PTO either

federation between kbin.social and my instance lemmy.sdf.org seems to be awful and I couldn’t tell where the breakdown was occurring because the issue is intermittent/partial federation
I’m not a web developer so I can’t really say what solutions are best, but I have faith there are people smarter than me working on robust solutions
I haven’t looked at the specs but it is similar to UDP vs TCP?

I’m already moderating a few communities so completely migrating to a new instance is probably not worth it for me (and I’d prefer to keep my sdf.org connections)
I’d love it if these alternative sites could use a login from a different instance somehow, basically operating in the same way a mobile app does

I’m on lemmy.sdf.org and my subscriptions to kbin magazines are extremely flaky and sometimes don’t work at all

It’s pretty easy assuming both of your devices are on the same network:
if you have a good home network it is pretty much indistinguishable from playing it directly on the deck
I can play Elden Ring with no video artifacts or noticeable input lag

yes the game does run on the remote desktop pc and essentially streams the video to the steam deck
I’ll admit the use cases can be limited, but if you want the ability to offload processing for graphically intense games it works well
my desktop is hard-wired into my network so I don’t have any lag when using remote play on my steam deck
I’m not sure if both machines were wireless how the performance might be impacted
if you happen to have a desktop PC and you play while at home, sometimes remote play on the deck is better than installing a game on the deck
I can remote play Elden Ring from my desktop at 60fps with longer battery life vs 40fps if installed on the deck with worse battery life
also make sure you try out reduced TDP and GPU rates on games with simpler graphics, you can get an extra 1-2 hours of battery life and not impact performance in certain cases
