Never seen mortismal and I’ve only seen SkillUp a few times. I don’t really follow or need any review at release time, I’m not touching any game that’s 50€ or more until two years have passed and it’s in the vicinity of 75% off.

Can someone give me a rundown on why there‘s so much negativity revolving around this?

First five minutes of SkillUp’s review is a good rundown. It seems like a mindless action clickathon with imitation of gameplay seen in better games, a safe sterile story and a large chunk of world design repurposed leftovers from someone’s abandoned Overwatch-but-DA ambitions.

edit: also, I note how reviews that peg this as a “return to form” are written and SkillUp’s has video to back his opinions and it looks pretty damning.

Google doesn’t have the leverage to get it into your OS against your wishes. They can’t even make me have their apps (search, assistant) on their Android.

Just stop giving a fuck, there’s a metric shitton of crazies doing janny work, it’s unpaid and very unsatisfying. If they ban you, it’s either their instance’s loss or nobody’s. The account costs nothing because it’s worth next to nothing. I don’t even need the links that I myself post and the others’ I can see even if they ban my account. I would be careful with such generalizations - not because I’d be downvoted into a hole (I’ve turned the scores off and just DGAF), but it’s epistemologically a bad habit. However, whatever I’ve seen so far that SBI had their fingers in does have a certain fellow-kids, safe-edgy, corporate-approved, plushie-anarchist tone, the dialogues are atrociously bad and disjointed from their theme (Sable’s postapocalypse, for instance). They can do a less funny version of Joss Whedon’s relaxed banter and they tend to stick it everywhere. But what I really dislike about SBI is that it’s obviously a grift, making developers cough protection money to add pronouns and hair colors to characters.

Are you fucking kidding me? It’s 79.99€ on Steam and you’re talking as if the opportunity to experience it is lost forever. If it’s worth a cat shit, I’m looking forward to its proper release in 2026 at 15€ or less.

I agree. We are in the honeymoon phase about to face varying degrees of eternal september and besides someone still pays for bandwidth and domains and who says it won’t be enshittified once it gains traction. This is clearly not a new paradigm.

Love them and IMO the latest is their peak so far, they’re still ascending.
