Really just need to find a reason to keep him at the top of the news, eh?

Edit: it was notable to see this uncertainty as the top NYT story yesterday.

Right. This was an entirely non-issue from the start. The FBI said “we’re not sure if he was actually hit by a bullet or shrapnel” becuase they were investigating and hadn’t confirmed anything. But that distinction does not really matter in the first place. He was shot at, he was struck and injured, a bystander died, and the shooter was killed. All of the rest of it are just details, particulars that don’t change any of those facts. The FBI was speaking plainly about the facts at the time and Trump threw a hissy fit about it for no reason. All of that is par for the course and, frankly, boring. Then the media repeated, amplified and generated more outrage over a huge nothing-burger that made for a catchy headline. Find some real news to write about, Jesus.

I’m not sure why the blood surprised me. Maybe I was unknowingly expecting him to bleed something else. Like chicken grease or mayonnaise.

TMZ dropped a pic with his bandage removed.

His doctor said that “chunks” were ripped off. His ear looked completely healed- and cartilage doesn’t regrow so that would have to have been reconstructive surgery.

I’m guessing if it wasn’t some one with a razor cutting for drama… it was a very mild graze.

All that is assuming TMZ is more or less legit. (Ie the photo isn’t doctored before the rag bought rights to it)

I just saw a clips of him at a rally from a day or two ago, with no ear bandage, and his ear appeared fine.

Which would be miraculous rates of healing.

Even if it was just a shard of glass; there would still be some visible scarring. Also, I’ve see ears get chunks torn out, there’s a lot more blood.

I just checked out notes on “ear lobe repair” surgery, talking about tears, saying stitches are in for a week with a red scare while healing.

There’s no way that ear was torn and missing “chunks”. (Shocker…. Trump lied….)

I have to imagine that Trump has plastic surgeons on standby at all times (he already walks around looking like he’s stuffed with more gauze than a taxidermied sow), so if there was any structural damage, they likely repaired it with a prosthetic.

Donald Trump is wayyyyy too ugly to have plastic surgeons on standby. That face is McDonalds & KFC.

Combine with the fact that old people are generally a bit more frail and slower to heal than those that are much younger. Especially when they’re not exactly fit either with a horrendous diet.

He said he healed like the day after and the doctor said it was a miracle.

        What’s that smell? Bullshiiiiiiiiiiiiiit

Sorry, all you get is images of a maxi pad to indicate enormous damage for what was likely a graze.

An attempt on a former president’s life is a big deal, whether I think he’s a human dumpster fire or not.

However, the way he played this up was and is ridiculous. He didn’t need to prove anything. Someone shot at him and that’s not in doubt. Instead he chose to milk it and I personally find that ludicrous given the circumstances.

The funny part is how little the average person cared about that. These dumb articles just highlight that.

I dunno if I can say I cared but I have been curious about the situation. There was a picture posted today of his unbandaged ear and it looked completely fine. Like no scars or stitches or anything.

I guess he just got slightly grazed with some small fragments or something.

There was legitimately some question of if it was the bullet or if it was a fragment of teleprompter glass or something.

It’s not particularly newsworthy, but it’s a detail the investigation needs to be clear on, and with updates being given faster than final answers can be found, there’s moments where “we’re still finalizing things, but it’s either A or B” is all they can say.

“What struck former President Trump in the ear was a bullet, whether whole or fragmented into smaller pieces, fired from the deceased subject’s rifle,” the agency said in a statement.
