Elon Musk, the billionaire king of bad takes, came up with a new one to cement his reign on Sunday night.

Responding to a second potential assassination attempt on Donald Trump’s life, the X owner questioned why no one was trying to kill the Democratic president and vice president.

“And no one is even trying to assassinate Biden/Kamala,” he posted, adding a thinking-face emoji.

A near-instantaneous firestorm of criticism predictably followed, with several people telling him to “delete your account” and others tagging the U.S. Secret Service’s X account.

I am firmly convinced, based solely on what the tinfoil hat whispers to me, that both of these “attempts” were funded by the GOP as an effort to drive media attention towards Trump.

After all, they have fully admitted to making up stories to get media attention. Is it really too far of a stretch to think that they would pay some poor sucker they view as disposable into being a threat in his general vicinity. The whole thing just feels like a media stunt from a wrestling promo.

I’m a little more shaky on the first time. Someone else was actually killed, it seemed like a serious fuck-up on local law enforcement and SS’s part, it’s just too messy.

This time though? Where they caught the guy before he got a shot off? And the only person who will face any consequences is the gunman? I just find it so hard to believe, because Donald Trump is exactly the kind of piece of shit who would stage an attempt on his life for the ratings.

I would agree that having someone else killed would be too far for it to be staged for most people. That said, I have seen no evidence that makes me think the GOP considers anyone who isn’t a billionaire or one of their mouthpieces a person.

To them, a random person in the crowd getting killed would just be a data point in their news story. Then just pack on a blood pack, and a fake bandage to sell it like wrestlemania 23.

From what we know about him, the gunman’s a complete megalomaniac, so I’d like to offer my kounterconspiracietheory: Gunman sees the Roberts leak and did this to get Trump elected Charles Guiteau–style, wailing his arms about at the secret service so he wouldn’t have to wear an overstanched earpatch for yet another morbid month.

If this was staged, I think it was staged to trigger Trump’s cultists to try and take out Harris. They want them all to react just like “Leon” did.

There is zero evidence for the Obama birther story, “The Big Lie” for the 2020 election, the Springfield Haitians, Kamala’s audio device earnings, or any other story the GOP tries to push. Since when is evidence really needed for them?

I mean I’m just asking questions here. If the implications make the GOP uncomfortable maybe they should address them.

Republicans are promoting baseless conspiracy theories, yes. However, that doesn’t mean we should do the same and promote the “both sides are the same uniparty” idea. (Which is why I have offered my own kounterconspiraschietheory below.)

Why haven’t they released the long-form voter history and the forum post archives from Kenya? What are they hiding?

Trump is a problem for the GOP. He has them over a barrel.

They can’t get rid of him because they’ll lose the crazy vote, and for sure, the crazy vote is about the only thing keeping them in the game right now.

And he gets to order them all about. And the GOP are a bunch of rich white me, and rich white men do not like that kind of thing. They like being the ones ordering people about. It’s the natural order of things god damn it.

Their only real way of getting rid is either an assassination, or at least looking the other way when somebody else tries it. That way they get to keep the crazy vote. “Do it for Him” they’ll cry. And they will. Either that or wait for the inevitable cardiac arrest to take him. But a man who dies on the toilet is going to get a lot less sympathy than if he’s shot by an Obama loving abortionist.

My tin-foil hat: the GOP wants JD as president.

Trump, while controllable, is still a wildcard. Couchfucker is an active Project 2025 participant and likely will be able to campaign and hold the office without major gaffes like Trump.

Maybe it’s a secret service black op orchestrating it all, all from feeding into his delusions and antagonizing him to convincing a random MAGAt that the only way to save the country is by making their hero a martyr.

I can only imagine how maddening babysitting a cheeto is.

If I threatened to impregnate someone and called for stochastic terrorism against a vice president, I’d be in a cell real quick.

But when you’re a slavery mine heir and tech tagalong, it’s just “bad takes” I guess.

I mean maybe I’m a bit off the wall here but is it possible that - and I’m just spitballing here - but isn’t it possible that being an absolutely insufferable, repugnant, lying, manipulative, egotistical, repulsive, persistent, whining, cry baby asshole that has an almost impressive penchant for pissing off virtually every one, every single second of every single day, on top of being a disagreeable politician could potentially make you a more likely target than just being a disagreeable politician? Idk maybe I’m crazy.

The difference is of course obvious to anyone who’s not knee deep in MAGA. (Hint: being a threat to democracy can unfortunately invite this sort of thing).

Still, really? This is what political discourse has come to lately? I mean, what the …
