“Get everyone you know, and everyone you don’t know, drag them to register to vote,” said Elon Musk at a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania. “If they don’t, this will be the last election. That’s my prediction.”

Considering the civil war did not end the idea of the confederation you are probably right.

True, but from what I see, no one seems to love the others nearly as much as Trump for some weird reason. Every other evil person they throw up there doesn’t seem to get the same attention, thankfully. I hope it stays that way…

This is kinda a natural result of authoritarian structures going back millennia. It’s a big king of the hill game, because nobody up top is really in it for the movement, they’re in it for themselves.

I would point to the old monarchies of Europe as an excellent example of this all playing out though, with a huge number of individual data points to work with.

Avoiding this whole mess is one of the primary purposes of democratic forms of government.

I think that will change in the absence of Trump as a candidate, especially if he throws his weight behind one of his kids.

Yeah, people have said this after many elections, and it’s never true because there are only two parties, so neither one will ever go away so long as we maintain a two party system.
