Photo of Rita Moreno in Stephen Sondheim’s West Side Story, singing the song “America”. Rough translation: You gotta vote, it’s worth it, if everyone votes, PRicans gonna save it

Hope posting feels like the best thing to do rn

Well, to start with, this isn’t the actual song lyrics, it’s playing off them.

However, in West Side Story, the character is a Puerto Rican living in the mainland US, so she would have been eligible to vote.

The original song has a lot of sarcastic banter, and celebrates and criticizes life in both Puerto Rico and New York.

Love me some Rita Moreno, in everything she did!

Edit: Oops, here’s a non-Bezos clip of the song

Now go vote if you haven’t already.

I said “if you haven’t already.” Good for you. I sent mine in too, all six pages and blue down the line. While you were down voting and commenting, I added a video clip that’s not linked to Amazon. You can watch, and then read the meme lyrics in the same voice.

nah, My question was about West side story, but i was correcting voting procedure in my first comment:

“us territories like PR can’t vote.”

their response was the straw man of “but if they moved to the US they can vote” which…yea, not a great answer, but I didn’t want to call them out for a non-answer misdirect redundancy.

when they toss further pedantic assumptions at me?

              I’ll break it down.
