Y’all better not be using plastic straws. We got a planet to save.
between 2021 and 2022
2021 was still “covid-affected” statistics; of course they’re gonna go up on a year-by-year basis as things return to ‘normal’.
Yeah headline somewhat misleading. US did jump again after covid recovery but has been dropping pretty consistently since 2007 when they peaked in co2 emissions from energy production and is still well below that. Currently at about 1987 levels of emissions. Not that they don’t need to be dropping even faster of course though.

China’s co2 emissions consistently rising still, but you could also point out that the US, Canada, Australia and Russia haven’t cut enough to get below China’s per capita emissions yet. So while they are the biggest emitter, they aren’t the biggest emitter per person.

Biggest emitters per capita are persian gulf states. Not super surprising.
India lags well behind both China and the US in per capita emissions.
Many European countries have dropped below China in per capita emissions already.
Actually, China’s emissions are plateauing according to recent studies.
So, I guess fingers crossed we don’t all die in a ball of fire.
We probably won’t all die of it, but rich nations are going to do just enough to make sure rich nations don’t get affected too much.
That’s good news! Would be wonderful if they start down trending as well. I just like to point out the per capita emissions as well which I think are important. US has a long way to go on a per capita basis even if they’re no longer the biggest emitter total.

Where are the per capita stats? A lot of European countires, Australia would be worse.
