Throughout this conflict, and after having watched very closely the war in Ukraine the past 2 years… The rhetoric coming out of Israel matches very closely with the same sort of propaganda and denialism Russia uses.
They are either targeting journalists or are so wonton in their indiscriminate killing that they just so happen to kill a bunch. I don’t know which is worse.
They definitely target journalists. Covering IDF war crimes is the most criminal thing you can do in israel.

Why are journalists required on the ground, why can’t we just document all this via satelite 'n shit?
Because it’s crucial to have eyes on the ground objectively reporting the reality of the conflict and getting first-hand accounts from people they otherwise wouldn’t reach from afar.
It’s only thanks to these journalists that we know of the devastation as it is. If we relied solely on Hamas or IDF, we’d get muddied information.

Because journalists must be identifiable to get journalistic protections. Any technological solution would seem hard to distinguish from espionage.

Sending in a drone could constitute an act of war. So while you’re protecting journalists, you may be straining diplomatic ties or even risk escalating retaliation.
Journalists are protected by international law, and right now the discussion should be focused at the crime at hand.

How are the protections working? A whole a lot better than the nothing you are suggesting. Their life mission is to get the word out. I feel at this point, you don’t realize how important that work is. They will not wait for technology to solve this. Things are happening now.
Israel actually blocked all commercial satalite access for Gaza so nobody without a military satalite can see what’s really going on.
