Funny thing is there are two stories about the inside of the Trojan horse and both are actually pretty hilarious in a metatextual sense, because both are basically Odysseus smacking fools around over obvious ploys to get them to blow their cover.

The first one involves a wise city elder who knows damn well that this reeks of Odysseus’ schemes and hucks a spear into the horse’s side, for which he is struck down by the gods presumably for risking the war not just being over and done with already.

The second one involves Hellen of all people apparently displaying an almost divine talent for mimicry as she tries to tempt all the major commanders of the Trojan war who’d be in the horse to blow their cover by imitating their wives.
